If you were a little disappointed that, having ordered your PlayStation 5 Pro console, Gran Turismo 7<\/em>’s “enhanced” update won’t be available<\/a> at launch, there is still some good news regarding how the game performs on the more powerful machine.<\/p>\n

Various console hardware review outlets around the globe are trying out the PlayStation 5 Pro right now — with graphics performance specialists Digital Foundry among them. We’ve previously covered DF’s thoughts on how the “Pro Enhanced” version of GT7<\/em><\/a> performs in its various new modes, from media test events.<\/p>\n

Handily, even though the patch isn’t available to the public — with Polyphony Digital last reported to be “targeting a November release<\/a>” — DF did try out the game on the Pro console and found that there were some benefits to doing so.<\/p>\n

Reviewing the outcome in the video above, John Linneman commented that GT7 now hits a locked 120fps in native 4K when running on the Pro with the output set to 120Hz mode with VRR enabled. Previously there were some sacrifices in framerate in Resolution Mode, or to resolution in Frame Rate Mode, but running on Pro this all appears to melt away.<\/p>\n

Additionally, replays can now also run in 120fps, with “some tiny little blips here and there”, but Linneman adds that he’s never seen GT replays running so smoothly.<\/p>\n

Linneman does note one concern though, and that’s that these four graphics modes — introduced in update 1.31<\/a> — might be removed, at least for PlayStation 5 Pro owners, when the Enhanced update does arrive. That ought to be immaterial given the new options in that will arrive, but we’ll have to wait and see.<\/p>\n

As yet we’ve not seen a single outlet with a review console unit covering how the PS VR2 experience<\/a> might be enhanced with the PlayStation 5 Pro — particularly GT7<\/em> — so this remains a mystery for now.<\/p>\n

We still don’t know when the relevant update will arrive, but with November being the target, Thursdays seemingly being the preferred day of the week for GT7<\/em> updates, and a “TBA” gap in the current Nations Cup schedule<\/a> indicating an update before November 23, there’s only a couple of opportunities remaining.<\/p>\n

That being the case, hopefully we’ll have some information on the update before too much longer — and we’ll bring you all the latest as we get it.<\/p>\n
