A very racy set of Gran Turismo 7<\/em> Daily Races is available from today, with three new events running every 20-30 minutes over the next week.<\/p>\n

It’s a third successive set of all-race car events, with an unusual look that sees the fastest speeds and lap times popping up in Race A as you take on a Gr.1 challenge.<\/p>\n

This catch-all category features a number of top-category prototypes from different eras — Group C, LMP1, and LMH — as well as several Vision Gran Turismo cars created to approximate these kinds of vehicles.<\/p>\n

The race itself is a six-lap sprint of the Fuji International Speedway, with Racing Soft tires required. There’s no special tactical aspects to the race — as is the norm for Race A — so it’s a straightforward sprint, and currently it looks like the downforce monster Bugatti Vision GT is the car of choice for the event.<\/p>\n

As usual Race A features no Driver Rating (DR) updates, so do be aware that you’ll not gain or lose any DR from this race. Sportsmanship Rating (SR) updates remain turned on so you might be putting that at risk if you take part — and if you SR falls too far it can drag your DR down to a lower level too.<\/p>\n

Race B features the Gr.4 cars, for another sprint race on Racing Soft tires. Again, you can select any car from the class that you wish for this race — a five-lap run around the Kyoto Driving Park Yamagiwa course — but it does appear early on as if it’s an event for the all-wheel drive models.<\/p>\n

We’ve got the Gr.3 cars in Race C this week, which is a little more like a “normal” week over the last couple of years, and you’ll be visiting a track staple for these cars in the shape of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Be aware that it’s the “No Chicane” layout which skips out just the final “RACC” chicane leading onto the main straight.<\/p>\n

After a little time off from strategy considerations there are some things you’ll need to heed this week. The mandatory pit stop makes a return, requiring you to make one trip down the pit lane anywhere between the end of lap one and the start of the final lap or face a one-minute penalty added to your race time.<\/p>\n

You don’t need to pick up tires — and indeed the Racing Medium tires won’t wear significantly during the 11-lap race, with only a 3x tire wear multiplier — or fuel to satisfy the regulations. Just head down the pit lane and cancel everything. Take care not to cross the pit entry or exit lines either, or you’ll get a three-second penalty (for each) to serve in the back straight penalty zone.<\/p>\n

Daily Races are the main ranked multiplayer events in GT7<\/em>. Your Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) are determined by your performances, updating after each race, and these are used to set your ranking and league for the game’s flagship esports series<\/a> each season.<\/p>\n

In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.<\/p>\n

With GT7<\/em>’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday, November 11.<\/p>\n
