The latest new set of Gran Turismo 7<\/em> Daily Races is now available, with quite a lot of intrigue in the events this week.<\/p>\n

There’s something interesting going on in all three events, even if at first glance they look like a regular set of a one-make road car race and two events for cars in racing categories.<\/p>\n

We’ll make a start with Race A which is, as usual, the home of the roadgoing one-make. It’s an event we’ve been expecting since the arrival of the 1.52 update<\/a> a couple of weeks back, but it still comes as a bit of a surprise!<\/p>\n

As we’ve already seen some events — a Time Trial<\/a> and a Weekly Challenge<\/a> — involving two of the three cars added in the update, it’s inevitably the turn of the third as you’ll be racing in the Toyota HiAce van this week.<\/p>\n

There’s not a lot of complexity to the race, which is a straightforward, four-lap sprint around the Tokyo Expressway Central Clockwise course. You can’t really do anything to the van (even if you do, BOP reverts it anyway) in terms of tuning so it’s just a case of going nuts with the livery editor and making sure you have the Comfort Soft tires bought and equipped. <\/p>\n

It’s even just a standard grid start this week, and there’s no opportunity to earn Driver Rating (DR) points as this remains switched off for this race — though Sportsmanship Rating (SR) updates are still active. As there’s not a lot of room for this quite large vehicles, it could be quite a risk.<\/p>\n

Race B is also routine on the face of it, comprising a Gr.3 event around Sardegna Road Track A. Just pick your preferred vehicle — and it’s looking like a GR Supra\/Genesis X event — and make sure it’s on Racing Medium tires for this five-lap race.<\/p>\n

As a little twist, we’re again seeing a +600% credit reward for this race. Previously we’ve only seen that on races linked to GT World Series live events, in races using the same combinations, but last week’s pair of Gr.3 races saw the same reward bump too. It may be the case that Polyphony Digital is incentivizing the Gr.3 Dailies now across the board…<\/p>\n

Finally there’s Race C, which is an absolute behemoth this week. It’s one of the longest multiplayer races we’ve ever seen (including GT World Series qualifier races), coming in at 24 laps of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.<\/p>\n

That’s more than 100 miles in race distance, and at least 50 minutes of your time even though you will be moving at a fair lick in the Gr.2 cars. Notably the race is rescheduled to begin every hour, rather than the usual half-hourly schedule, so this looks quite deliberate rather than some of the erroneously long events we’ve previously seen.<\/p>\n

As for the race itself, you’ll just need a Gr.2 car on Racing Medium tires. The tire wear multplier isn’t severe, at just a 2x rate — so tires wear twice as fast as normal — so you will be able to get to the end without swapping them for fresh, but there is a mandatory pit stop in effect.<\/p>\n

That means you’ll need to head down the pit lane once during the race (any time between the end of the first lap and the start of the last), but you don’t need to pick up fuel or tires when you do so. Failing to take the stop will earn you a one-minute penalty after the race.<\/p>\n

Daily Races are the main ranked multiplayer events in GT7<\/em>. Your Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) are determined by your performances, updating after each race, and these are used to set your ranking and league for the game’s flagship esports series<\/a> each season.<\/p>\n

In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.<\/p>\n

With GT7<\/em>’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday, October 21.<\/p>\n
